Please read the story attached or right from the Bible. After the story I have attached some discussion questions.

This is also to help each Spark understand the importance of believing what God says and his Word. God Tells us to believe in him and we can be sure what he says is true.

Shepherds – Tell the Good News

Story: Luke 2:1-20 – read from the Bible and a shortened version from the Sparks book is attached.

Discussion Activity after the story

  1. Why were the shepherds afraid?
  2. What did the angel say to the shepherds?
  3. What did the shepherds do after the angel left?
  4. What did the shepherds do as they were going back to their flocks?
  5. Why is Jesus’ birth such good news? (Why was he born?)

Memory Verse for this week (Written handout attached. Spark can write it and read it daily three times)

John 1:3 – “All things were made through Him, And without Him was not Anything made that was made”

The above link is for the memory verse for this week along with the next two weeks, John 1:1-3 If you would like to use this to help our Sparks learn the verses this is a great tool.

John 1:1-3– in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

Application Activity – Share the Gospel-“The Good News” with each other. This allows your child to practice doing this and will make both of you more aware and ready to share the Gospel with someone when the opportunity arises. Finish the practice time by praying together for people whom you or your child know that need to hear the good news of the Gospel.

Please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance.
